Manchester United are reportedly willing to compete with Liverpool, Arsenal, and Barcelona for the acquisition of Newcastle United talisman Alexander Isak.
Isak is having another fantastic season at Newcastle, having scored 21 goals in 30 games across all competitions. This includes 19 goals in just 24 Premier League outings for the striker.
According to TEAMtalk, Newcastle have offered Isak a massive £120 million (€145 million / $151 million) fee, which might grow further if they can hold him down to a new contract.
However, prominent clubs in England and elsewhere continue to monitor Isak. They have been given optimism of completing a blockbuster trade because Isak will not sign a contract extension if Newcastle fail to qualify for the Champions League next season.
Mundo Deportivo, a Catalan source, has provided an update on Isak’s position (via Manchester United News). They reiterate that Barcelona would love to sign Isak this summer, but they will have to compete with huge Premier League clubs for him.
According to the report, Manchester United has entered the competition for the Swedish star, resulting in a transfer battle with rivals Liverpool and Arsenal.
United officials are becoming ‘desperate’ because they need to’relaunch’ Ruben Amorim’s faltering initiative, and Isak has been identified as the one to turn the club’s fortune around.
The Red Devils will have significantly more money to play with in the summer after a quiet January window, but it remains to be seen whether they can match Newcastle’s astronomical asking price.
Furthermore, given Isak regards himself as a Champions League-level player, United would need to convince him that they will be able to enter the league as soon as feasible.
“He’s more than simply a goal scorer; you’ve seen some of his touches, and I’ll never forget the first time I watched him play live.
“It was a couple of years ago, maybe two or three years ago at Anfield, very early on in the season, he scored a goal, he ran through, and the thing about him is, when he’s got a chance to score or he’s got to finish, he’s one of those strikers you never expect him to miss, he’s always got that coolness in front of goal.”
Meanwhile, United is still interested in fellow striker Victor Osimhen, although Arsenal has reportedly surpassed them in their pursuit of his services.
A move to Arsenal is described as a real option for the Nigerian as he seeks to leave Napoli permanently this summer.
Antony, a United washout, is performing admirably on loan at Real Betis, and talk about his future plans has already begun.
