Ruben Amorim has provided an update on Ayden Heaven after the young defender was stretchered off in Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Leicester City.
Heaven, a January signing from Arsenal, was handed a second consecutive start against the Foxes on Sunday after breaking into the United side amidst an injury crisis.
He impressed in the 4-1 Europa League round of 16 first leg victory over Real Sociedad on Thursday and retained his place alongside Victor Lindelof and Matthijs de Ligt in United’s back three.
But disaster struck for Heaven early into the second half as he went down following an innocuous tangle with Patson Daka while trying to shield the ball out of play.
Amorim elaborated in his post-match interview with Sky Sports, saying: “It’s hard to know because we have to evaluate during the week. He already played well against Arsenal and Real Sociedad.
“Today for me was the most difficult game for him because we expect him to relax a bit, but he was so focused. It was clear today my players are at the limit. We are going to use this window to rest and recover, it will be good.
“The feeling is completely different. When we return it will be like starting from scratch.”
More positive update on Ayden Heaven
As per Tyrone Marshall from the Manchester Evening News, Heaven was seen leaving the King Power Stadium in a protective boot on his foot.
However, in more encouraging news, he was walking without assistance.
Heaven signed for United from Arsenal for a fee of £1 million and made his debut in the FA Cup penalty shoot-out defeat to Fulham.
His injury adds to the ongoing crisis at United, who have Amad Diallo and Lisandro Martinez as long-term absentees and have also been without Leny Yoro, Jonny Evans, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo in recent times.
