Chances fell at both ends of the pitch as Manchester United played out to a 0-0 draw against Manchester City and ex-captain Roy Keane revealed the one thing the Red Devils missed in the derby clash.
Ruben Amorim’s men were able to carve out a few half-chances from counter-attacks, but Keane insisted they lacked a certain “mindset” required to win matches of this stature. Had a larger number of players dug deeper to make the most of what opportunities arose in the tie, United may have emerged with a far more positive scoreline.
Keane: United Players Must ‘Step Up’
The Irishman thought the squad lacked enough motivation
“There still has to be a change of mindset. You have to start somewhere.
“This is a derby game. Man City weren’t in great form themselves, still a good team and obviously got quality players.
“It’s a home game, you’re thinking ‘City aren’t that great’.
“They’ve had chances, they’re making the wrong decisions, people not getting in the box, people not hitting the target, people not taking opportunities.
“Find a way to win. Find a way to get a set-piece, get a last minute [goal].
“I still look at this Man United team and I’ve gone back over the last year or two, not just today. Where is that mindset, that gamble from somebody?
