Game over for £108m Man Utd duo as Jason Wilcox sets loss-making price tags

It has been reported that Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee may leave the Red Devils in loss-making deals as Manchester United looks to replace Ruben Amorim’s attacking options this summer.

With one game left, Manchester United has only scored 42 goals in 37 Premier League games this season, far fewer than their 57-goal total from the previous campaign. One of the main reasons United is only slightly above the relegation zone in 16th place is because they have had severe issues in both areas.

In recent years, United has made significant investments in its forward line. Last summer, they paid Bologna £36 million for Joshua Zirkzee and signed Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta for £72 million in August 2023.

However, as seen by the fact that they have only scored seven league goals between them this season, neither of those strikers is a dangerous goal scorer at the moment.

Amorim wants United to sign Liam Delap from Ipswich Town as their new number nine. His Ipswich contract includes a £30 million release clause, and he is holding off on joining until after United wins the Europa League and advances to the Champions League.

According to The Independent, United has contacted “multiple clubs” in an attempt to get rid of Zirkzee and Hojlund, who are both “on the market.” This supports the April 18 TEAMtalk claim that both attackers are for sale.

Given that talks between Juventus and United have “gone the furthest,” Juventus is the team expressing the greatest interest in Hojlund.

Zirkzee, Hojlund both wanted in Italy

As Champions League finalists Inter Milan are preparing a surprise transfer for Zirkzee, he may face Hojlund in Serie A next season.

A different report from CaughtOffside claims that despite interest from Inter, Juventus, and Fiorentina, United is “ready to let Zirkzee go.”

Zirkzee may go to Inter on a loan-to-buy deal, according to reports that were first made public by the Italian media on Friday. Despite spending £36 million for the Dutchman, United is open to accepting a bid that is less than €40 million (£34 million).

Jason Wilcox, the technical director for United, is ready for the team to suffer an even greater blow to Hojlund. The Denmark international is currently valued by United at £40 million, which is £32 million less than the original deal that took him to Old Trafford, according to sources who spoke to TEAMtalk in February.

Roy Keane, who blasted the 22-year-old and two other players after United’s 1-0 loss at Chelsea, would be happy if United sold Hojlund.

Man Utd transfer news: Amorim denied signing; Liverpool battle

According to reports, Amorim has asked for a major addition this summer, but the United management is not ready to approve a deal.

It is confirmed by TEAMtalk that United and Liverpool are competing to sign a top player from a relegated team.

Additionally, his ideas on a summer transfer have surfaced.
