‘Beest’: Joshua Zirkzee praises 8/10 United star who won six duels vs Leicester City

Manchester United secured their tenth victory of the Premier League season with a 3-0 win against Leicester City on the road this past Sunday.

Entering the match as strong favorites, the Red Devils rightfully took the lead before the halftime break.

Although the Foxes performed better after the interval, United took advantage of their defensive lapses to clinch the victory.

Bruno Fernandes once again stood out as the man of the match, contributing two assists and scoring a magnificent goal late in the game.

In addition, Matthijs de Ligt delivered an impressive performance in the Red Devils’ defense.

While the Netherlands international struggled with his passing, he compensated for it with a robust defensive display.

De Ligt won an impressive six duels and recorded 11 successful defensive actions from 60 touches, according to Fotmob.

His most significant contribution came in the 75th minute when he executed a remarkable block to save Victor Lindelof from embarrassment.

Lindelof had been overpowered by the 38-year-old Jamie Vardy prior to his pass intended for Facundo Buonanotte.

The Brighton & Hove Albion loanee appeared poised to score until De Ligt’s timely sliding challenge intervened.

The former Bayern Munich player had an outstanding performance, earning an 8/10 rating from the Manchester Evening News.

Shortly after the match, De Ligt shared a post on Instagram, and Joshua Zirkzee expressed his admiration for his fellow countryman.

The striker referred to De Ligt as a ‘Beest’ in Dutch, which translates to ‘Beast’ in English.

De Ligt experienced a gradual beginning to his tenure at United; however, he has shown remarkable consistency in his performances in recent months.The Red Devils require him to maintain his excellent form following the international break, as there remains much at stake.Currently, United sits in 13th place in the league, and the priority should be to secure the highest possible finish.

Additionally, the club faces a vital Europa League quarter-final against Lyon next month.

It is imperative for the Red Devils to triumph in this competition to ensure participation in European and Champions League football for the upcoming season.
