Confirmed: Man Utd sign £470,000-a-week german striker

Among many of Manchester United’s woes that have plagued them thus far this season, arguably the biggest one yet has been the inefficiency of their strikers in front of goal.

Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have failed to find the back of the net at a consistent rate and this has left Man Utd in a pickle this campaign.

It must be said that in recent weeks, Zirkzee has played very well before unfortunately getting injured but he is not a prolific number nine but rather someone more creative on the ball who loves dropping deep and pinging passes to runners in front of him.The lesser said about Hojlund’s season, the better!

With this in mind, upgrading the striker position could become a non-negotiable for Ruben Amorim come the summer and he will have to be clever in who he signs.

As per Caught Offside, Man Utd seriously want to sign £47million-rated Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic ahead of next season.

The Serbian striker also has interest from elsewhere in the Premier League with both Chelsea, Newcastle United and Arsenal said to be keen on signing him. He has been quite useful for Juventus over the last few seasons and has the experience to know where the back of the net is. This bodes well for the Red Devils.

Good striker but…

Should Man Utd sign Vlahovic, he will surely be an upgrade on the existing options at the club but the Juventus number nine often tends to be erratic through the course of a season and that is not what the Red Devils need after splurging significant cash on a problematic position.

14 goals in 37 games doesn’t exactly scream ‘deadly’ in front of goal but Vlahovic is 25 and still has room to grow. He is yet to enter the so-called prime years as a footballer and there is every chance he could explode into a goalscoring machine in a season or two to come.

However, although the price tag makes him an exciting prospect for Man Utd, this is one that they cannot afford to go wrong with and should they have better striker targets on the table, the Red Devils need to look beyond Vlahovic.

In the unlikely case that Man Utd are able to sign someone like Viktor Gyokeres, it would make more sense than the Serbian striker and let’s wait and see how this transfer saga plays out in the coming months.
