Looking ahead, it has been claimed that United could be in for a busy summer transfer window, with multiple players expected to leave, which will in turn open the door for new signings.
As reported by The Sun, United are interested in signing Sporting Clube de Portugal star Francisco Trincao, who worked under Amorim during his time with the team.
However, the report stated that Sporting are set to ‘play hardball’ and will look to demand a fee ‘in excess of the attacker’s £50 million release clause’.
It has also been suggested that Trincao’s former club, Barcelona, are set to bring in ’50 per cent of his future transfer rights – which is where the going could get tricky for United’.
The report added: “Even if they can be persuaded to sell, Sporting want to recoup at least £35 million.
“But they only get that if United – or another suitor – is prepared to pay twice as much, allowing Barcelona to get a similar share of the proceeds.”
The report read: “Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot have both not been shy about proclaiming the virtues of a move to Old Trafford to their international teammate, but we can also reveal that Cristiano Ronaldo has recommended the move to the former Barcelona starlet.”
United are back in Premier League action next Tuesday night when they take on Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
