PSV Eindhoven will not take up an option to sign Manchester United defender Tyrell Malacia in the summer, and he will be returning to Old Trafford.
That’s according to Eindhovens Dagblad, via Voetbal Primeur, who report that PSV have not been convinced by the defender and so will be sending him back to Manchester United at the end of the season.
Malacia joined the Dutch club on loan at the end of the January transfer window after it was made clear that he was not a part of Ruben Amorim’s plans.
He had been hoping to get regular playing time in the Netherlands as he continues to try and fight his way back from the long-term injury that has ruined his Manchester United career to date.
He’s managed just six appearances in the league so far, though, totally 45% of the available minutes, and it seems that’s been enough for PSV.
They’ve not been convinced, according to ED, and so will not be taking up their option to sign him permanently from Manchester United in the summer. He will return to Old Trafford.
What happens from there remains to be seen but with him not in their plans either, it may be time for his agent to start looking at other possible destinations.
