Arsenal is expected to find it “too challenging” to secure a deal for Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes during the upcoming summer transfer window, according to sources cited by Football Insider.
The Gunners have recently been linked with the 27-year-old midfielder and are interested in the Brazil international; however, they are likely to face difficulties in finalizing a transfer this summer.
Mikel Arteta’s team has already reached a preliminary agreement to acquire Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, who has a release clause estimated at approximately £51 million in his contract.
Additionally, Arsenal is anticipated to seek a top-tier striker during the off-season.
Arsenal unlikely to sign both Guimaraes and Zubimendi
RB Leipzig’s standout player, Benjamin Sesko, has caught the attention of scouts, while the incoming sporting director, Andrea Berta, is particularly interested in Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan.
Bruno Guimarães has been a long-standing target for Arsenal; however, it appears they will not secure his transfer during the summer window.
The former Lyon player led Newcastle to their first trophy in 68 years on Sunday, March 16, by guiding them to a 2-1 victory over Liverpool in the League Cup final.
Throughout the 2024-25 season, he has participated in 37 matches across all competitions, contributing three goals and eight assists.
Newcastle acquired the midfield talent for approximately £40 million in January 2022, and he is contracted to remain at St James’ Park until June 2028.
Trossard could quit Arsenal this summer
On March 3, Football Insider reported that Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard is expected to be an attractive prospect for clubs in the Saudi Pro League during the upcoming summer transfer window.
In September 2024, Al-Ittihad made an offer of approximately £30 million, following the conclusion of the English transfer window.
By June, Trossard, who is 30 years old, will have only one year left on his contract with the Emirates Stadium.
