Fans think Marcus Rashford aimed dig at Ruben Amorim after scoring his first two goals for Aston Villa

Manchester United supporters are convinced that Marcus Rashford has made a veiled reference to his former manager, Ruben Amorim, following Aston Villa’s victory in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

On Sunday afternoon, Rashford played a pivotal role in securing Villa’s place at Wembley by helping them defeat Preston North End. Although the Championship team managed to hold Villa to a 0-0 draw at halftime, Rashford scored two quick goals, followed by a third from Jacob Ramsey, allowing Unai Emery’s squad to advance to the next round.

Immediately after the match, Rashford addressed the media, and fans believe he took the opportunity to subtly criticize Amorim, who had previously managed him at United.

After spending 20 years with Manchester United, Rashford was loaned out in February after reportedly experiencing conflicts with the new manager for various reasons. Since his move to Villa, the English winger has excelled, netting two goals and providing four assists in his first ten matches. Fans speculate that following his standout performance, he directed a message towards Amorim and United.

In an interview with BBC Sport after the game, the 27-year-old expressed, “It’s a great feeling; I feel like I’ve been getting fitter and playing better football since I’ve been here. It’s always nice for a forward to score, so I hope it continues. Step by step, I believe I can still improve my fitness. I missed a lot of football before joining them. Right now, my body feels good, I’m injury-free, and I’m enjoying my football, so everything is positive for now.”

In response to Rashford’s remarks, fans are convinced that he intended to convey a message to his former manager as the summer transfer window approaches.

One fan commented on X, “Two goals and enjoying his football again? Rashford is clearly sending a message to Amorim and INEOS.” Another added, “What a terrible decision it was to let Rashford go; all Amorim had to do was support him, but instead, he threw him under the bus—appalling management.”

And one claimed: “Amorim came into Manchester United with hate for rashford and that’s just the plain truth.”
