“Making some calls to enquire” – Fabrizio Romano drops exciting Man United transfer update

According to transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United has initiated discussions regarding the acquisition of a new central defender.

The Red Devils have faced challenges in their defensive lineup this season, despite having secured the signings of Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt during the previous summer transfer window.

In January, they brought in Ayden Heaven from the Arsenal academy, who has shown considerable promise at Old Trafford thus far.

However, the club may part ways with Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans at the conclusion of this season.

While Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez remain options in that position, Maguire, at 32 years old, is nearing the end of his career at the highest level, and Martinez is currently sidelined due to a long-term injury.

In addition to pursuing a new striker, Romano has indicated that Manchester United has already begun efforts to secure a new defender.

He wrote for GiveMeSport:

“Ruben Amorim has also indicated this position as one more to cover in the upcoming months, and Man United directors have recently started making some calls to enquire about centre-backs available in the summer.”
