Man United next five fixtures amid Europa League hope and Premier League struggles

Manchester United suffered disappointment again this season as they fell to a 1-0 away loss against Nottingham Forest in their return to Premier League action.

Anthony Elanga’s solo effort in just the fifth minute of the game proved to be the difference between the two sides at the City Ground. The result leaves United in 13th place in the Premier League table, two points behind Crystal Palace, although the Eagles have two games in hand.

United could find themselves as low as 15th by the end of the week, depending on how other results go. With relegation not a worry and United too far away from the European places, concentration may start turning to the Europa League.

Winning the competition would mean qualification for next season’s Champions League. Both United and Tottenham Hotspur, who have also had a disappointing league season, are in quarter-final action in the competition.

United face French side Lyon while Spurs come up against German team Eintracht Frankfurt. With the Europa League now at the forefront of the mind, here’s a look how both teams’ run-up to their quarter-final ties are looking.
