Manchester United fans have all named the same player they think should replace Andre Onana after he made two errors leading to goals against Lyon.
Onana, 29, made an error which led to Lyon’s first-half strike in the Europa League quarter-final first-leg clash at the Groupama Stadium on Thursday evening.
The ‘keeper failed to deal with a routine in-swinging free-kick from Thiago Almada before Leny Yoro levelled the scores on the stroke of half-time.
Former United midfielder Paul Scholes gave his thoughts on Onana’s error at half-time.
He’s probably wishing he kept his mouth shut before the game I would have thought,” Scholes said when referencing the pre-game spat between Onana and Nemanja Matic. “The keeper I’m not sure what he’s trying to do to be honest. It’s an awful mistake from him.”
This came after Onana claimed United were a better side than Lyon to the dismay of Matic who responded in a press conference on Wednesday.
“I respect everyone but to say that then you need to get the answer,” said Matic.
“If you are one of the worst goalkeepers in Man United’s history you need to take care what you are talking.”
“If David de Gea or Peter Schmeichel or [Edwin] van der Sar said that then I will question myself but if you are one of the statistically worst goalkeepers in Man United’s modern history then he needs to show that before he says, so we will see,” he added.
