Man Utd fans gave a honest verdict on Luke Shaw after return performance vs Newcastle united as ‘few minutes’ point speaks volumes

Lyon staged a late comeback against United at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais and Andre Onana was at fault for two howlers in the 2-2 result in the Europa League.

Ruben Amorim’s men returned to Premier League action on the weekend and United’s 2024-25 season took another ugly turn for the worse against Newcastle.

Newcastle ran riot against United and Eddie Howe’s men inflicted a 4-1 thumping on the Red Devils in the Premier League clash at St James’ Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Magpies took the lead through Sandro Tonali in the 24th minute before United pulled back an equaliser before half-time thanks to Alejandro Garnacho’s strike.

Newcastle took control of the match against United in the second half after Harvey Barnes restored his side’s lead and then he completed his brace in the 64th minute

Bruno Guimaraes slammed home Newcastle’s fourth in the 77th minute after an Altay Bayindir howler and Eddie Howe’s side comfortably sealed all three points.

One Red Devils supporter wrote: “Luke Shaw should’ve played from the start anyway.”

Someone else said: “Luke Shaw in [a] few minutes showed what we’re missing. Imagine a fit [Lisandro] Martinez and Shaw as LCB and LWB.”

“Luke Shaw offered more in 15 minutes from CB attacking-wise than any other player did during the whole match,” another suggested

A fourth United fan commented: “Luke Shaw has to be the starting LWB. The way he almost found Rasmus [Hojlund] there is levels above anything we have in the current squad in wing-back positions in terms of quality.”

While a fifth added: “Luke Shaw, man. Carries, technical ability, progression and creation. If only he was fit…”

“A fully fit Luke Shaw is still the best LB [in the world]. We’ve missed this creativity,” somebody else posted.

And a seventh claimed: “Luke Shaw, you don’t know how I miss that whipping ball into the box.”

An eighth simply tweeted: “Luke Shaw, man. Class.”
