Man Utd ‘offered’ player Guardiola hailed as ‘the best in the world’ in his position

Manchester United may pursue another player from Bayern Munich following the acquisitions of Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt last year. According to TBR Football, the Red Devils are among several clubs that have been “offered” the opportunity to sign former Manchester City player Leroy Sane.

The report indicates that Manchester United, along with Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, and Newcastle United, have all been approached by Sane’s representatives as his contract approaches expiration this summer.

Sane has been engaged in discussions with Bayern Munich regarding a new contract for several months, with the latest round of negotiations occurring in early March, as reported by Florian Plettenberg. He notes that the German international is “determined to stay” with the club.

However, as talks have reached an impasse, Sane’s camp appears eager to explore other options, with a return to the Premier League being his preferred choice.

Sane won two Premier League titles before returning to Germany

Since his transfer from Manchester to Munich in 2020, the winger has achieved an impressive tally of 56 goals and 50 assists across 209 appearances. During his time at the Etihad, he accumulated 39 goals and 43 assists in 135 matches, consistently demonstrating his value as a game-changing player under Pep Guardiola.

Guardiola recognized Sane’s exceptional attacking prowess, which is why he was reluctant to part with him when Bayern expressed interest.

“Sane is the best in the world when playing on the wing. I prefer to utilize him in his most effective position; he is an extraordinary talent,” stated the City manager in 2019.

Ultimately, the forward opted to seek new challenges in his home country, joining the Bundesliga powerhouse. Earlier in his career, he also gained valuable experience with Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke.

It remains uncertain whether United will consider pursuing the 29-year-old or if he would be inclined to compromise his standing with the Sky Blues by playing for both sides in the Manchester derby.
