Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho was spotted wearing a new brand of boots before his side’s 4-1 defeat to Newcastle – despite being contracted to Nike.
Garnacho scored his fifth Premier League goal of the season at St James’ Park on what was otherwise a tough afternoon for Ruben Amorim’s side.
The Argentinian has struggled for consistency this campaign amid criticism of his end product, but has now had four goal contributions in his last eight games and will hope to have turned a corner.
Garnacho broke into United’s first team under Erik ten Hag during the 2021/22 campaign and was rewarded with a lucrative Nike contract towards the end of that season.
Taking to Instagram, the winger commented that Nike were ‘the best brand in the world’, and has been wearing Nike boots ever since.
That was until Sunday, with Footy Headlines spotting that Garnacho was instead wearing Skechers boots while warming up.
He appeared to revert back to his red Nike boots for the match itself, however, with the 20-year-old therefore giving little away as to which brand he will be wearing from next season.
Skechers were not particularly renowned in football prior to the summer of 2023, when Harry Kane signed a lifetime deal to become their new global ambassador shortly before leaving Tottenham Hotspur for Bayern Munich.
The American manufacturer has since released a special edition personalised Kane boot, part of a collection which includes various apparel such as a track top, shorts and an icon graphic tee.
Footy Headlines claim that Garnacho was wearing boots from Skechers’ ‘Razor’ range and is expected to become a brand ambassador.
