Offer expected in coming weeks’ – Manchester United said to be on verge of midfielder bid

Manchester United have been regularly named as a contender to sign Atalanta’s Éderson for the past year or so.

Earlier this month, we covered claims from Italy which stated the Red Devils are waiting for the midfielder.

The Italian media continues to report about Manchester United as TuttoMercatoWeb now share the latest.

Their title says Manchester United are ‘strong’ and ‘in pole position’ to sign the 25-year-old.

The Brazil international has a contract until 2027 and has refused to sign a renewal with the Serie A club. That’s because he is eyeing a move to a prestigious club, probably from the Premier League.

Ruben Amorim’s side have shown concrete interest in Éderson and it’s stated ‘an offer is expected in the coming weeks’. TMW make no mention of the fee they would propose but state La Dea are asking around €60m.

The English club could face competition from their local rivals, Manchester City. They are in the evaluation phase and are waiting to see whether they will qualify for the Champions League.

Manchester City are sixth in the table, a point behind fifth place Newcastle United [with a game in hand] and fourth placed Chelsea.

For now, The Citizens are distant and that could give Manchester United an easier route to sign Éderson in the summer window.

The South American has made 42 appearances for Atalanta this season
