After serving an 18-month sentence, Paul Pogba, who played football for Manchester United twice, will soon be able to play again.
As his football ban draws to a close, former Manchester United player Paul Pogba is in high demand.
Louis Saha hinted that Pogba would get an invitation to rejoin the team in the New Year, which has been connected to a return to Old Trafford. Due to a four-year sentence for failing a drug test, which was later lowered to 18 months, Pogba hasn’t played since last summer.
Although he won’t be able to play until March, he will be able to sign and train with a new team in January. After declaring “the nightmare is over” in October, Pogba is now aiming for a comeback, and Adrien Rabiot would like to rejoin his countryman at Marseille despite shaky connections to United, at least on the outside.
“Although we didn’t really get to share the pitch, we spent some time together at Juventus,” Rabiot continued. He’s welcome to come along. The players, coach, and management are all highly professional, and there is genuine ambition as we put together something significant [at Marseille].
He also urged Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the club to make a bold move, adding: “I also think that Paul Pogba is still a very special player. When you think about midfielders, Pogba has unique qualities. I think the United squad lacks power in their midfield and we’re missing a skilful player that can play box-to-box, so he would be a good addition [to the United squad] because he’s a different profile of player to what United have.
“When I look at Pogba, I think that many teams in the Premier League would find signing him – as a free agent – an attractive proposition. Forget about the salary, I’m sure Paul is ready to find a compromise on that as he wants to play football again after such a long time on the side-line. When I think about Pogba, there are more positives with signing him than there are negatives, and I think he’s a player that should interest Manchester United in January.”
