Paul Scholes claims he used ‘wrong word’ to describe Man Utd man after Lyon comeback win, he now sets record straight

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has now walked back on one comment that he made after Ruben Amorim’s side overcame Lyon in the Europa League quarter-finals.

Manchester United hosted Lyon at Old Trafford on Thursday and the Red Devils completed a sensational 5-4 comeback win in the return leg of the last-eight tie.

Manuel Ugarte and Diogo Dalot put United 2-0 up at half-time before the Red Devils suffered a collapse in the second half and Lyon scored twice at Old Trafford.

Lyon were reduced to 10 men in the second half against United, but the Ligue 1 outfit punished Ruben Amorim’s side in extra time and took control of the match.

Rayan Cherki fired Lyon into the lead in the first half of extra time after Alexandre Lacazette converted his penalty against Andre Onana in the second half.

Bruno Fernandes then converted from the spot-kick in the second half of injury time before Kobbie Mainoo scored a stunning equaliser for United against Lyon.

United knocked Lyon out of the Europa League quarter-finals after Harry Maguire netted the winner in second-half injury time in extra time at Old Trafford.
