Arsenal fan Piers Morgan claims that Manchester United can no longer be considered a ‘big club’ for one key reason.
Ruben Amorim’s side lost 4-1 at Newcastle on Sunday to register their 14th defeat of the Premier League season.
United are on course to record their worst finish in terms of points since the 1989/90 First Division season, where they collected just 48 points under Sir Alex Ferguson and lost 16 of their 42 matches.
That season was salvaged by an FA Cup win, ensuring qualification for the Cup Winners’ Cup – which United also won by defeating Barcelona in the final.
That has some parallels to the current campaign, with United still in the Europa League and able to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
