Real Sociedad will be without Arsen Zakharyan for tonight’s Europa League match against Manchester United, as the UK government has denied him a visa.
This information comes from El Diario Vasco, which reports that the Russian player’s attempts to attend the game have ended in disappointment.
The publication details that Zakharyan traveled to Paris last night in hopes of securing a last-minute visa for the match.
Both he and his teammate Hamari Traoré were unable to join the rest of the team due to visa complications and had to remain in Paris while the club worked to resolve the issue.
Traoré ultimately received a work permit and traveled to England last night, but Zakharyan was compelled to stay in Paris, where he was “trying to expedite” his travel arrangements this morning.
However, sources close to the player indicate that these efforts were unsuccessful, and he will have to return to Spain, missing the game at Old Trafford.
Zakharyan’s representatives have expressed their appreciation to Real Sociedad for their attempts to assist, but ultimately, they were unable to secure his availability for the match against Manchester United.
