Real Sociedad travel for Manchester United clash without key midfielder and with major doubt

Real Sociedad is en route to England for their Europa League second leg match against Manchester United, but they will be without one of their pivotal players. Croatian midfielder Luka Sucic, who has secured Mikel Merino’s starting position this season following his transfer from RB Salzburg, will not be making the trip due to muscle discomfort in his right leg. According to Marca, the club has opted for him to recuperate at home. However, they welcome back defender Aritz Elustondo, who was suspended during their recent Liga loss to Sevilla. Aside from this, coach Imanol Alguacil can largely field his team without concerns regarding injuries or suspensions.

A last-minute decision will be required regarding right-back Jon Aramburu, who has become the preferred choice in that position following Hamari Traore’s cruciate ligament injury earlier in the season. Aramburu exited the pitch limping on Sunday, but with Traore available, there is a natural substitute if needed.

Manchester United is also grappling with several injury concerns, particularly regarding the availability of Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro. Ruben Amorim will be missing Mason Mount, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo, and Amad Diallo.

The aggregate score stands at 1-1 from the first leg, where a penalty from Mikel Oyarzabal equalized an earlier goal by Joshua Zirkzee. Although the Red Devils controlled much of the match, the latter stages were dominated by the Txuri-Urdin, with Orri Oskarsson missing two opportunities to secure a win for the Basque team. Recently, United managed a 1-1 draw against Arsenal, while Real Sociedad faced a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Sevilla at home, having rested players in preparation for this encounter.
