Report: Man United defender edging closer to exit after not being a part of Amorim’s plans

Manchester United’s manager, Ruben Amorim, is poised to implement significant changes to his squad during the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Red Devils have faced challenges this season, although they still have the opportunity to conclude the campaign by securing the Europa League title.

Their performances in both the Premier League and cup competitions have been disappointing, which may lead to substantial alterations in the squad’s composition.

Amorim is anticipated to release players who do not align with his tactical approach. Notable names such as Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, and Victor Lindelof are likely to leave the club at the conclusion of the season.

As reported by Birmingham World, two clubs from the Championship have expressed interest in acquiring Manchester United defender Jonny Evans this summer.

The 37-year-old’s current contract with Manchester United is set to expire at the end of the season, and Amorim has decided against extending it.

Evans was brought in by former manager Erik ten Hag and played a significant role under the Dutch coach, particularly during a period of injury challenges for the team.

Jonny Evans is not in the future plans of Man United

Under Amorim’s management, the seasoned defender has participated in only two matches, leading the Portuguese coach to conclude that he does not meet the standards required to be part of the team for the upcoming season.

Amorim prefers a style of play that emphasizes building from the back and implementing a high pressing system, which does not align with Evans’ playing style.

Both West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield United, former clubs of the player, have expressed interest in acquiring the experienced defender this summer.

Evans is determined to continue his career and believes he can still contribute, even if it means playing at a level below the Premier League.

While Evans’ signing was not initially met with widespread approval at United, his presence proved beneficial in addressing the club’s defensive injury crisis.

Romano has indicated that United is actively seeking a new defender this summer and has already initiated several inquiries.
