Roy Keane dismantles three Man Utd stars in furious rant after Chelsea defeat

Roy Keane was critical of three Manchester United players after the Red Devils’ defeat against Chelsea.

Ruben Amorim’s team traveled to Stamford Bridge on Friday night in an attempt to play Chelsea, who are vying for the Champions League, in the Premier League.

Marc Cucurella’s late goal gave the home team a 1-0 victory, keeping Chelsea in the top five going into the final game next week.

Even though they are now in the lowest half of the table, United can still go to the Champions League the next season if they defeat Tottenham Hotspur in Wednesday night’s Europa League final.

Following the Chelsea loss, United great Keane was questioned about if he would “fight” to hang onto players like Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho, and Kobbie Mainoo.

Keane began: “I wouldn’t be hanging my hat on those three to get Man United [back].

“Mainoo comes on tonight, I watched him closely – he’s strolling around, some of his passes were sloppy. Garnacho is immature. He plays in little moments, but he doesn’t do enough.

“We spoke before the programme – you want players for the big clubs that turn up week in, week out. He doesn’t do that. He’s got a bit of talent; he makes some good runs and threatens in behind. On his good day, you think, ‘I like what I see.’ But he’s got too many bad days.”

He continued: “And Hojlund, in his defence, I think he should have been a backup striker, third or fourth choice, and learnt his trade off of two or three brilliant strikers.

“The fact that when he came to the club he was going to be the main man, he’s not good enough! He’s obviously lacking in confidence and belief and he’s not surrounded by brilliance either.

“The problems we’ve spoken about at Manchester United all season are still there. Now if people think they can fix that in one summer then it’s not going to happen.”

Further commenting on Hojlund, Keane said: “Hojlund tonight, he looked like the young kid from Chelsea (Tyrique George).

“He looked like he had just come out of the academy. His runs weren’t right, his timing, his hold-up play. Again, if you’re a striker playing for Man United… even for the whole team, one shot on target?”
