Ruben Amorim immediately fires back at Gary Neville after ‘love in’ comments on Sky Sports

Ruben Amorim has fired back at Gary Neville after he branded the Manchester derby a ‘love in’ on commentary.

Neville was extremely critical of both Manchester United and Manchester City following their drab goalless at Old Trafford on Sunday.

There was a lack of intensity in the Premier League fixture as the former Red Devils captain pulled no punches on Sky Sports.

“I think the congratulations and love in that I’m watching tells you that both teams feel happy with the 0-0,” he said after the final whistle.

“I think the best Manchester City teams, and the best Manchester United teams, would be very disappointed at the end of that game with the way in which they’ve approached it.”

“It looks like a Sunday afternoon and they’re going to go for a roast dinner together now. They’re micro-managed to within an inch of their lives.”

Neville added: “It was so robotic that game, and quite symptomatic, actually, of a lot of games that we’re watching nowadays. And it’s not good enough, I feel disappointed.

“It’s a Manchester derby, and it should have more blood, thunder, risk and courage involved in playing the game and trying to win the game than that.”

Amorim was asked about Neville’s comments during his post-match press conference.

And the Portuguese manager delivered a spiky response as he hit out at the former footballer-turned-pundit.

Amorim said: “I understand. I understand that Gary Neville is critical of everything!”
