Another challenging night against Ipswich was faced by Onana.
Andre Onana, who has been under fire, has been instructed by Ruben Amorim to “forget the past” as the Manchester United custodian tries to move past his recent struggles.
Six weeks after his impressive performance in Inter Milan’s close 2023 Champions League final loss to Manchester City, the 28-year-old was signed to tremendous fanfare. However, he had a disappointing start to life at Old Trafford.
The £47.2 million player was among United’s better performers in the second half of the season, but Onana claimed he felt like he had slipped from being the world’s top custodian during that error-plagued time.
However, there are still concerns about David De Gea’s successor, and they only got louder as Jaden Philogene took advantage of his early mistake with Patrick Dorgu to beat him with a cross in the 3-2 victory over Ipswich.
With third-choice Tom Heaton and backup custodian Altay Bayindir still sidelined due to injury, Onana will have another opportunity to establish himself when Fulham arrives in the FA Cup fifth round on Sunday.
