Ruben Amorim delivered his verdict after Manchester United was knocked out of the FA Cup.
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim singled out Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, and Joshua Zirkzee after his club was eliminated from the FA Cup by Fulham. After a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, the Red Devils lost on penalties to their Premier League rivals.
United fell behind in stoppage time at the conclusion of the first half, when Calvin Bassey headed in from close range after finding himself in plenty of space following a corner. The hosts drew parity midway through the second half when Fernandes scored. The match was eventually decided by a penalty shootout, with Victor Lindelof and Zirkzee’s attempts saved by Bernd Leno, propelling Fulham to the quarter-finals.
“We managed to score in the second half after that goal near half-time,” Amorim told the BBC after the game.
“It was difficult for us to go and press a little higher, but we did it and scored.” I believe we have the best chances in this game. In the end, penalties may work both ways, and today wasn’t our day. It is crucial to note that with the substitutions, we had the opportunity to win the game.
“I think we are better in the first ball than the second ball. I think it is also sometimes the quality of the players. Bruno, Casemiro and Josh are improving a lot.”
