The attacker is “keen” to play under Ruben Amorim once more, and Manchester United has apparently “cemented” a Sporting CP player as a target for the summer.
Amorim, the manager of United, has to make drastic changes to his team. He took over a failing team and has caused them to fall even worse in the Premier League.
Amorim has acknowledged that winning that competition is insufficient, despite the Red Devils being in the Europa League final and now being in 16th place in the league.
He obviously needs players that can work in his 3-4-2-1 system, and individuals from his old team Sporting CP are often mentioned.
Pedro Goncalves has been connected a few times, but after he was sidelined for months this season due to injury, the trail went cold. Now that he is playing again, Goncalves “remains a player of notable interest” and has “established himself as an excellent candidate,” according to Theatre of Red.
United is reportedly keeping an eye on the attacker’s fitness right now. Since returning from injury in April, Goncalves has only managed one goal.
The “remarkable talent” would be “keen on the prospect” of rejoining Amorim in Manchester, the article claims.
Goncalves an Amorim favourite
Given how pleased Amorim was to employ Goncalves while he was at Sporting, it should not be shocking that he wants to get back together with him.
Nuno Santos, a left-back, is the only player to have played more frequently under Amorim than the winger, who made 190 appearances.
Under his previous manager, Goncalves scored an incredible 81 goals and provided 61 assists.
on five seasons, he scored more goals and provided more assists than any other player on an Amorim team. With 66 goals in just a few seasons, Viktor Gyokeres almost caught up to him and is also being considered by United.
Whether the Sporting star’s form would translate to the Premier League remains to be seen, but Amorim going shopping at his former side might help him to have some success at United.
Man Utd round-up: Buyback not triggered
Throughout the season, there has been a lot of conjecture over United’s potential to activate their buyback clause for Alvaro Carreras.
They aren’t going to, though, according to reports, as Fabrizio Romano stated the wing-back would be “more than open to joining Real Madrid.”
Franco Mastantuono, a River Plate star, has been brought to United’s attention. Although Mastantuono is also apparently interested in Madrid, they are supposedly in the running.
Regarding the signing of Wolves striker Matheus Cunha, transfer insider Romano has advised United supporters to “relax,” implying that the trade is underway and would proceed “in the next days.”
