The only unqualified success story of Manchester United’s tumultuous season thus far has been Amad Diallo.
The elusive Ivorian has had to wait patiently for playing time at Old Trafford, but he is repeatedly repaying the trust that was shown in him by Erik ten Hag, Ruud van Nistelrooy, and most recently, Ruben Amorim.
In 21 games across all competitions this season, the 22-year-old has three goals and six assists, but he has only played the entire ninety minutes five times.
And he provided all six of his assists in the five Premier League games, with at least one occurring in each contest.
He now leads United’s assisting charts, is tied for third place in the Premier League, and is ahead of club captain and creative force Bruno Fernandes.
He is now tied with Cole Palmer for six assists, only surpassed by Mo Salah on eight and Bukayo Saka on ten.
However, according to a different statistic that Statman Dave found, Amad is better than every winger in the league except Saka.
Despite just starting eight games, Amad has ten goal-creating actions, surpassing players like Trent Alexander-Arnold and Salah.
At number 11, he is barely ahead of creative midfielder James Maddison, who is followed on 10 by Palmer, Enzo Fernandez, and Mikkel Damsgaard. He is ranked fourth overall.
According to FBref, one or both of the two acts that directly result in a goal are considered goal-creating actions. These can involve take-ons, passes, and foul-drawing.
His statistics are much better when seen per ninety minutes; his score of 1.13 places him ahead of Saka (1.64) and, ironically for United supporters, Red Devils loanee Jadon Sancho (1.65).
