Two Man Utd stars pointed the blame at same player during Chelsea defeat

Alejandro Garnacho was rounded on by Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes and his predecessor Harry Maguire after his team’s Friday night loss to Chelsea. In the end, United lost 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.

It was their third straight loss, their eighth straight Premier League game without a victory, and their 18th loss of the season. For the struggling Red Devils, that latter accomplishment sets a new club record.

After a brilliant move by Chelsea that moved the play from left to right, the goal was scored. Garnacho marked Blues captain Reece James as the ball wound up on the box’s edge.

After leaving Garnacho in his trail, James executed a piroutte and then dug out a cross in the direction of the far post. Marc Cucurella, who was unmarked, was waiting there to head the ball beyond Andre Onana.

United didn’t provide much of an attacking threat, therefore that ended up being the only goal of the match. Mason Mount had just been replaced by Garnacho, who immediately infuriated his teammates.

Following Cucurella’s goal, Fernandes and Maguire were seen yelling at Garnacho. It was the most recent setback in the Argentine winger’s terrible season.

Since Erik ten Hag was replaced as manager by Ruben Amorim, he has fallen out of favor. After playing just 30 minutes in the loss to West Ham, he started on the bench for the second straight Premier League game.

Garnacho is therefore very unlikely to start against Tottenham in the Europa League final next week. Amorim has also been encouraged to let go of Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo, a fellow academy graduate, and Rasmus Hojlund, a striker, by legendary United captain Roy Keane.

“No, I wouldn’t be hanging my hat on them three to get Manchester United [back to where they need to be]. Mainoo comes on tonight. I watched him closely. He’s strolling around the place. Some of his passes were sloppy. Garnacho, he’s immature,” Keane told Sky Sports.

“You want players for the big clubs, you turn up week in, week out. And he doesn’t do that. He’s got a bit of talent. He makes some good runs, and he threatens him behind. And on his good day, you think, listen, I like what I see. But he’s got too many bad days.

“And Hojlund, in his defence, I think he should have probably been a backup striker. A third or fourth choice and learn his trade off two or three brilliant strikers. The fact when he came to the club that he was going to be the main man, he’s not good enough.

“He’s certainly obviously lacking in confidence and belief. And he’s not surrounded by brilliance either. So, the problems that we’ve spoke about United all season are still there. If people think they can fix that in one summer, then it’s not going to happen.”
