Viktor Gyokeres is pushing to join One club amid strong Man United, Liverpool and Arsenal transfer links

The latest Manchester United transfer news and gossip – amid ongoing speculation over in-demand Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres.

Viktor Gyokeres would reportedly prefer a move to Arsenal over Manchester United.

Gyokeres is tipped to leave Sporting CP during the summer transfer window after his second season in Lisbon.

United’s appointment of his former head coach, Ruben Amorim, has inevitably led to rumours regarding a reunion at Old Trafford, such is the Reds’ need for a centre-forward.

The Sweden international scored 66 goals in 68 outings for his former coach as they won the title last season and, subsequently, made a perfect start to their top-flight defence this term.

United, though, are not the only club interested in Gyokeres.

A Bola, the Lisbon-based Portuguese sports newspaper, reports that the club are aware of Arsenal monitoring the striker alongside Amorim. And they claim that his preference would be signing for the Gunners.

Sporting will reputedly consider what Gyokeres wants, even if it means receiving a lower transfer fee as long as it is at least €70million (£58m). That is because they benefitted from Coventry City doing likewise when they had the opportunity to sell their striker elsewhere at a higher price in the summer of 2023.

However, they also hope that an auction between Arsenal and United could materialise to drive the price closer towards the player’s €100million (£83m) release clause.

A deal, though, seems unlikely to go through until July, as Sporting are said to be seeking financial relief for next year, after already confirming the sales of Dario Essugo and Geovany Quenda to Chelsea for a total of €74million (£62m). Quenda was on United’s radar before that deal went through.

United are said to not even be on Gyokeres’ shortlist of future employers – assuming they will not qualify for the Champions League this season.

Liverpool and Manchester City are the two other Premier League clubs alongside Arsenal; with Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain also claimed to feature.
